Looking to purchase a 4.6 since I sold the BEAST and have found 3 potential cars. All are located in Illinois and priced very resonable, but I am a little nervous because they are all in the same area. Is there something that I should know about Illinois cars? I don't want to get one that has had problems and that's been dumped in a state where they don't have to disclose it. Other than that, I also wanted to see if anyone here would nice enough to go out of their way and check these vehicles for me. I would of course pay you for your services !
please email me for the addresses and instructions if you would like to help out a former M5 owner
I would be happy to help with your inspection.
New to be registered on the board but lurking for the last year.
I have great relationships with the Bigger dealers in IL at least in the Chicago area and could also get some inside scoop.

Illinois title histories don't have the amount of detail of some other states. I ran a Carfax on my 300M just before I turned it in on lease, and it came up "no accident records" even though I had almost totaled it two years previously. But that only applies to the time the car is titled in Illinois; if it had a bad history in some other state that information should still show up in a Carfax report.
The big problem with vehicles in the upper midwest is road salt in the winter. The area is nicknamed "the rust belt" for a reason. Old cars in good body condition are rare.
THANKS for the input. The car that I was really interested in at Bill Jacobs BMW was sold this morning ! The other 2 dealers have not replied to my offer, so I don't need any help yet.
absent: Any help locating a nice 4.6 at a good price will be great!
I have a relationship with Fields (purchased M Roadster and M5 from them) and know a service writer at Bill Jacobs. Let me know if you need help. e-mail: bmmmmmw@ameritech.net
