Recommendations: Audio system X5

In August, I purchased a 2002 X5 3.0 with premium package in response to my 16 year old daughter's total destruction of our 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd. The X5's safety rating was important.

This X5 has the standard audio system. I am amazed that it produces such low fidelity. I do not want to change out the head unit, but am interested in adding an amplifier to the head unit, new speakers and a powered sub-woofer. Anyone have recommendations.

I am not looking to produce an audiophile hi-fi system in the vehicle, but am interested in a decent mid-fi set up for about $1,000 or less.

Hi There,

Unfortunately, the equipment alone will set oyu back around $1000 -- with what you want to do.

To be perfectly honest, I think the 3 way speaker system that comes with the X5 is fine. What I did was add a 8" subwoofer in the back and that made all the difference in the world. Unfortunately, it was much more than $1000 (but I had Satellite Radio installed too). The enclosure was made of fiberglass which takes a great deal of labor to mold.

Here is some more information, maybe you can duplicated the setup for a lot less. That'd be great.

Good Luck!
