M5 E39 0 - 100 - 0 mph (Autocar)

Can anyone help me with the 0 - 100 - 0 mph on the new M5?

I am looking for all figures which are reliable but please mention the source/method if possible.
The Autocar figure is the most interesting.

Thanks!

The SL55 AMG got 15.15 secs and the RS6 16.75 secs. in this years Autocar. I guess the M5 is in between somewhere?

Edit:
http://www.bmwm5.com/vbulletin/showt...ighlight=01000

15.3 secs for stock M5 not sure about the source though.

I timed myself once (very unofficial and not terribly accurate, using the timer function of the Nav system)

0-100-0 in 20 seconds. But I was towing a trailer!

See this link which quotes from a 1999 Autocar table showing the M5 at 15.7 seconds.

Here's an interesting graphic from Warrender:

Hi

Autocar figures are (a slightly dissapointing):

0-30 - 2.34
0-60 - 5.70
0-100 - 12.93
Reaction - 0.72
100-0 - 4.46

TOTAL = 18.11

Hey, my second post

It's obvious that Autocar can't drive a manual transmision
Geesh, that is a full second slower to 60 than almost any other test I've seen and 1.5 > to 100. Throw in the longest reaction time of any car in the test and it's obvious to me they were throwing the results.

Richard in NC,

The times you posted donīt say anything. That car, which was the first one Autocar tested, had a really bad clutch because it had been a tested by some german magazines before.

The real time from Autocarīs 0-100-0 challenge is 15,7 seconds.

bogus b.s.

Where do these numbers come from?

The M5 tested was probably in '99, which is a slower car than the current M5 model. The current ECU is Siemens and the intake plumbing is different. I have seen a lot of really bogus M5 times all over the place.

The current M5, tested confirmed by a least 5-10 tests in the U.S., is about 4.7 seconds to 60 m.p.h. This equates to 4.9 to 5.0 seconds to 100 km./hr. The time to 100 m.p.h is around 11.2 seconds or so. The 1/4-mile is about 13.2 seconds on average. Why do European mags. show such inaccurate times for the M5 over and over? Are Euro. M5s a lot heavier?

5.7 seconds. I'm really getting tired of people regurgitating data that is clearly in error.

Why donīt you read my post before posting? It has the explanation why the car was so slow.

Which euro-magazines showīs inaccurate times for the M5 over and over again?

4.7 seconds to 60mph, 4.9 to 5.0 seconds to 100km/h?

You mean 100mph?

Because 60mph = 100km/h
