The use of HDC with a Manual Box?

How would you go about using HDC with a manual box?, with an auto use can just press the button and let it sort itself out without the worry of stalling the engine, but with a manual how would it work?, with the clutch and all....to me it doesn't make sense, although we haven't tried it on our car yet but we will do once it's run in...

Any Info will be appreciated

I'm not totally sure, but I believe HDC is only enabled when you are in first gear or reverse. I also believe your speed has to be below 15mph. This is from memory, so someone out there with a manual handy should check this.

I do know it works quite well though -- a few board members that have manuals (on the Roadfly.com boards) use HDC in the winter months.

Thanks Chris, your right about it only being activated in 1st gear or reverse, and that is all what it states in the user manual about HDC and a manual box...

How would it physically be done without the engine stalling?, with the use of the clutch and engine revs.

It doesn't seem right just pressing a button on the dash then controlling the speed by the cruise control buttons on the wheel as the clutch has to be let out without the engine stalling.

unless you treat it like an auto....bring the car to a halt, press clutch in and brake then press the HDC button then let go of everything......but does pressing the HDC button rise the revs above the tick over rpm?, where there will be more power to stop the engine from stalling. Obviously i'm not going to be using it to get up hills, where the power is needed as it is Hill Decent Control at the end of the day

Sorry about that, I should have figured you had read the owners manual

I wish I had more information on HDC and a manual transmission, but I do not. What we really need is for a tech to chime in.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried pushing the clutch in while HDC is engaged? I wonder what it does.

I personally haven't drove the car yet, my time later on today , but we did try HDC on the open roads on a medium to average gradient , with the clutch out and the car rolling in first gear (< WRONG from the word go), that just caused the engine to bounce off the rev limiter.....but later on today I'll be getting the chance to take it off road and I have a reasonable idea of how to go about it

Thanks Chris

P.S When we have some momentum I'll push in the clutch while HDC is engaged, to see if it deactivates it or something
