The distant echo of sleeping fury

110 kph, I am shifting into third gear and floor it again. The V12 engine is barking at the tiny spots in the rearview mirror which have been cars only an instant ago.

Surprised by the sudden red onslaught the air is jumping aside, howling terrified, making way for the wide and low shape that slingshots towards its next unsuspecting victim.

Black hot rubber is clinging to the tarmac. The line between life and death is 265 millimeters wide and lateral forces are trying to pull the car over it, but it won't go.

The next pass is just a blur of colors. He didn't see it coming, the wall of air and the hunter close behind. Sheer power passes like a tempest of fire, glowing brightly in the evening sun.

Six and a half million Joules of kinetc energy are blasting towards the horizon, putting human reactions to the ultimate test. The senses must reach the future; incomprehensible speed is stretching time and bending space. This is another world!

Almost a megawatt of energy is making the brakes glow brightly as the car re-enters common reality, squealing, wrestling with physics and mastering it with unsurpassed ease. Back to normal that doesn't exist.

The stunning sight of clearly defined lines, timeless elegance and a deep grumbling echo of sleeping fury enslaves the mind without escape. A beauty and a beast in in one combined. A sculpture, resting and on the move. Beautiful in its terror, deadly in its wrath. One of a kind.

...Mike
