355 or 996 TT?

Has anyone had the experience of owning/using/maintaing these 2?
Similar price point...........
My impression is that the Ferarri is sexier, altho louder, finicky and more difficult overall.
The Porsche is easier to drive, pretty reliable, but just lacks as much aesthetic "car sex"

For a weekend exotic. Light track, heavy road, what is the best choice?

No a lot of people I know can resist the sexiness of a Ferrari, especially a 355; the sound, passion..wooooo. But the maintenance is a major barrier, is expensive.

On the other hand, Porsche is a more reliable car than a Ferrari, lower maintenance costs and easier to drive and the 996TT is one of the best everyday supercar there is. No one can beat this.

If I was you, bring down for a few track events, Ferrari would get my vote, but I would still assume the TT to be cheaper and faster.

I had the same quandry as you before I got my 996tt...It all depends on what you want...If you want a car for getting women, then its the 355 hands down...but, if you want a boss-hog bad to the bone beast killer , then its the turbo hands down...My car is getting the evo level 2 upgrade with a short shifter next week which will make give my baby 490hp and 510ft/lb of torque...This means that I will be eating a lot of italian with no worries

Get the turbo

you guys are crazy.......get the FERRARI!!!! ....and then sell it to me!!!

seriously....I would go for the porsche 996 TT as an everyday supercar.

BUT, if you can SERIOUSLY afford the very VERY REAL maintenance costs of the F355...go for it!

Personally I would morgage the house and get a Modena 360!

If you can manage paying $5500 for a new clutch and even higher prices for other parts, go for the Ferrari, easily!
I agree on that the 360 is way overrated, though it still is an extremely fast and competent automobile.
My father is a long time Ferrari enthusiast/owner and has experiences of many, including owning a 355 GTS, he now drives a 360 Modena. We both agree that the 355 was an overall better, more perfected car than the 360 is, not only the looks are better but the 355's engine sounds nicer. While the 360 engine sounds brutal and harsh (some prefer that), the 355's sings like an orchestra. And the selection of aftermarket exhaust systems for the 355 is wide, so an owner can easily find a system with the sound he prefers. The head might say Porsche because of the perfectionism, but the heart screams Ferrari, for the unique experience!

Good Luck!
