          Adjusting The Xenon Beam Position

If you would like to adjust the beam position and pattern on the Xenon low-beam:
          1) Pop the hood open
          2) If you look down on the headlight assembly (bird's eye view), you will find two white plastic phillips screws on each of the headlight assembly.
          3) Rotating the inside screw (the one closest to the center of the engine) will alter the height of the beam, i.e. up and down, while adjusting the outer screw (the one closest to the tire) will alter the lateral position of the beam, i.e. left to right position.
          4) Do the necessary calibration while the xenon's are shining on a white wall about 3-5 car lengths back, simulating the most typical driving distance between you and the car ahead.
          5) You may want to point the left light (driver's side) slightly lower than the right one, in order not to blind the oncoming traffic.

Be careful with the screws. They are pretty soft and it is easy to score the screws.
          I hope this helps

don't forget though, that the angel eyes and non-angel eyes has their adjusting knobs in different places...

          THANK YOU.

It worked. I would always use an allen head tool instead of a screwdriver to avoid stripping the plastic adjustment nut. I had the problem of people always high-beaming me when I was using low beams, and this has taken care of the problem.

Re: Adjusting The Xenon Beam Position

Sorry to dig up this old post...an oldie but goodie...

While driving back from an M5 meet yesterday, I noticed my low beams were aimed very low. I could only see 20 feet ahead. Why so low all of a sudden? I had just installed coilovers.

This board is a wealth of knowledge...

When you installed your suspension, you had to remove a suspension arm piece that calibrates the automatic xenon adjustment sensor. You or the technician most liley put it on upside down when reinstalling (easy to do as there is no defining characterictic of the piece to mark top or bottom). All you need to do is disconnect and turn the piece the other way around and your beams will be back to normal. Hope this helps.

Re: Adjusting The Xenon Beam Position

Ive recently changed my early model xenons to later model Angel Eye xenons. With the new lights the ballast bracket is different to the old ones, one fitted horizontally, and the other verticaly (cant remember which way now without going to look)

Question is, will fitting the ballasts a different way round affect anything (auto levelling etc?)

Hi was looking to swap my old xenons to angel eye xenons too. How much did it cost and which unit did you use and from where.
          Thanks

          Hi m8

I think the cost was about £550 all in (Units, bulbs already installed, new brackets and wiring harness's), for the OE hella angels. When I bought them I was told they may or may not come boxed as BMW items, but they did. No probs as they will def be the right ones.

I got them from Cooks Ferry engineering in Enfield (middx) they were about £100 cheaper than anywhere else at the time.
