Car and Driver /M6 article

I just received my May issue of Car and Driver which has a small but,in my opinion, ugly picture of the next M6 and it says, "BMW,Mercedes in arms race: Rumors are growing of a V-10-engined M version of the upcoming BMW 6-series coupe. The 6 series that was effectively previewed by the Z9 concept car is expected next year, with six-and eight-cylinder engines of 3.0 to 4.5 liters. You'll see the first car at the 2003 Geneva show. The poop out of Germany says the M6 will appear in 2004 with a 500-hp V-10 to challenge the Mercedes SL55 AMG. The 6-series will share the 5-series platform, and unlike the Mercedes SL, it has four seats. A convertible version is also planned but not with an SL-style retractable hardtop."

Same page says that Ford will build the GT 40 possibly with a supercharged 5.4 liter V-8. 0-60 in about 4 seconds and a price just north of 100k.

I guess we have options if the M5 gets too "Bangled".

The 500-hp V-10 is starting to appear imminent!!!

Thanks, Bill

tfung: the article was not very long so I typed out the whole thing in my first post. As far as the picture, it is pretty small and it is one we have previously seen. I would scan the whole page but I don't have a flatbed scanner.

Would you reallly stick by that if BMW somehow put out a 1000 HP M5?

1000 HP = Had to make a little edit here....tried to put the open mouthed OH face but got an angry face instead. Wonder why? Just imagine me with my jaw on the floor!

The Bugatti Veryron is quite ugly but with 1000 HP I wouldn't refuse one!

If it's going to look like Z9, I'll stick with my E39 beast.
