Exclamation Help!!!My Beast Is Sick

Good Evening Chaps

I need your Help - My Beast is sick and I do not have a clue why.

I was in the beast most of the day yesterday - and all was fine -
I jumped in the Batmobile ... I noticed something rather nasty

I turned the key waited for the loveliest noise in all cardoom but All was not sounding well - she sounded like she was firing only on 4-6 of her cylinders - the exhaust note was MUCH deeper but not a MANLY deep - it was a SICK - under the weather deep??? I listened for a while - couldn’t work out what to do and I would only notice the new note at very low RPM from about 1-3K Plus there was no power at all -

Then all of a sudden after running the engine for about 10 min - the noise stopped, the power returned and all was well

Of course I was still nervous but I started to think about what to right about on the board when I got home.

Then all of a sudden the "Service engine light" came on and I just stared at it for a bit and started to worry about it - my beast is a 2000 produced 7/01 it has 14k miles on it and is in perfect condition - or is it?

I had no choice but to drive the car- I was out in the burbs and I had to get back in town.

So the car sounds and performs fine all evening the service engine soon light was on for another hour or so and then just went out - just like that - maybe 2 hours or since it came on????

I limp home - not indulging myself at all and all seems fine - of course my service advisor was out for the weekend so I had no one to talk to but u chaps - thank god!!!

I jump in the car this morning to make sure she is still in one piece - start her up and all is good - no funny noises - and no service light - I was under the impression that the service light stays lit until it is connected to the computer at the service center so the onboard computer can report the problem it found - I guess I am wrong.

The car is fine all day then all of a sudden - it is started up and the same noise and lack of power is present????

Now I am really confused???

No service light - just funny noise and no power!!!

But after running the car for about 10min or sop all is well - WTFO (What The F..K ,Over)

Does any one have any idea what is going on - I have left a frantic message on the cell of my mechanic at my dealreship - but all I want to know is what the hell is happening - especially since the service light was on and off for a number of hours yesterday - but hasn’t shown up today???

Any answers/ideas/recommendations will be greatly appreciated...

Help me OB1 - you’re my only hope

Thanks lads

M5Mark

This happened to me a few times. It is in the computer. There is a fault involving the fuel delivery.

You sure about that? My 2001 production was 9/00. I think either you have a 2001 or production was 7/00.

But anyway, have the dealer read the code. There could be numerous causes running from bad gas to a faulty cam sensors.

Good luck and let us know what they find.

Rdgs,
Norm

Sorry to hear that M5Mark. Had the same issue with the SES light coming two weeks ago when I decided to jump on the car a bit on 5th gear. Re-started the car and everything is fine and never happened ever since. I'm thinking it's related to the gas I put in.

But I have not experienced anything like yours especially during start up.

Sorry I can't be of much help, but would like to know what your mechanic says about this problem.

Good luck I'm sure it's minor.

Paul

This happened to me once but turned out just to be a misfire.

It sounds like you have got a bit if bad gas or water in the fuel. Try refueling ( at a different station) and put some gas treatment or injector cleaner in with it. See how it behaves with some fresh juice.

Go to the dealer as soon as you can and have them read the computer's fault codes. That will tell why the SES light came on.

It doesnt sound like anything to be overly concerned about but definitely have it checked out.

If it starts running better with some new gas, goose it to redline a couple of times (in gear of course) to blow out anything in the system.

Keep us posted on what happens

Thanks Chaps

Evening / Morning - er.. whatever.. - We have lost an hour DOH!!

OPPS - sorry about the misleading Produciton date - I picked my 2000 Beast up on August 2 2000 It was a 7/00 production

Thanks about the info - i never considdered a GAS problem - the gas tank is about 4/5th full - Guess I have to put her on blocks Ferris Buler Style and run some miles up

I am eagily awaiting the reaction from my mechanic.

U have calmed me down a bit - but so has the mass quantities of alchol i consumed this evening - Funny - i dont actually drink and thus, I always expected that a woman would drive me to drink - which actually sorta happened this evening (thats another story) - but i was more nervous about my one true love loceked down stairs - so I decided to drink to keep my nervs down - that and u guys have certainly helped

Nice One lads

I will let u know the moment i hear anything fomr the Doctor.. the prognosis is good - I hope

See u out ther - in my metro geo rental car
