For the most part, I think they're fun. If I see a poll I don't like, it's real simple.... I don't respond. It's no big deal in my book.

Admittedly a few should be in the off topic forum.

But it is definately a useful tool, especially if you need a quick answer to something, as a lot of people who "lurk" and don`t actively answer a query, *will* anonymously participate in a poll, which then more often that not provides useful info.

Remember the one about your E39 anti-rollbar links snapping?

Ivan.

I like the polls, but when half the front page is made up of them, and some are identical to barely-relevant subjects that have already been discussed (how much money tdo you have/make, for example) - it does start to get irritating. The votes on THIS poll suggest it is bother enough people that I think we ought to ratchet it down a bit.

if they were not popular, then they would not be on the top of the page. enough said about that. although i must say, the stickies do get a bit annoying, becuase be it important or not to the participants of the board, its always at the top of the page.
as for topics not having to do with this board, they should not be here be it poll or just normal thread.

I agree with Greg that the polls can be useful if the topic is relevant. Asking us if we wear boxers or briefs, drive with the radio on or off, or desire paper or plastic tends to get old and I don't take the time to vote.

Keep the good ones coming.

Polls...

I think that there be a separate section for Polls.

1. We won't get multiple polls on the same topic.

2. Easier to review and participate in polls.

3. Can make a few important polls sticky (e.g. - clutch issues, color, etc.).

What do you think?

I like the polls, but they are sometimes repetitive. I think it is a function of the growth of this forum. With all the new members and so many topics already covered it seems that the number of truly new threads has dwindled a bit.

I voted YES. I think there are too many irrelevant polls. Polls are great when they are relevant, and the information collected is useful to M5 Owners and admirers. But recently I see too many polls which collect information that I as an owner am not interested in at all. I don't care how much money people make, or what kind of shoes they ware, etc,., etc..

Example for useful polls are: Mileage, Clutch issues, Oil consumption, VANOS, Tires, etc..
