THANKS TO ALL -- Here's what I ordered:

Slate Grey with Black leather interior
Lumbar on both (#'s513 + 586)
PCM (which is nav)# 662
CD Changer #692
Supple #982
(note - on all black interiors the stitching is grey - which will match the Slate exterior nicely)
Small Leather Interior Package #E74 (to soften the dash look)
Mats - M6A
Heated seats P14
XME - Rear console in Slate (did an unscientific and unathorized scratch test on a seal one at a local place this weekend. Held up)
X70 Door sills in stainless **With Turbo On them** see below
X71 Aluminium Dials**
Y06 Aluminum/leather shifter and brake handle**
And last, but not least, XSX - seatbelts in Guards Red. Which I also saw this weekend done on an all black interior, seal exterior. The belts add just a tiny hint of color which is nice and MATCH the brake calipers!

**(Note - you can do the above three in one package which is #p71 HOWEVER in that package your door sills will not say Turbo, they'll say Carrera. For the extra $100 bucks I wanted it to say Turbo)

THANK YOU EVERYBODY FOR YOUR HELP.
Now I just have to figure out how to pay for it...

Glad you picked up on the subtle difference between the aluminum pkg and ordering it separately. I definitely would rather have it say turbo instead. By the way nice option list. Are you going to have a local dealership do a courtesy delivery or are you just going to have it freighted to your location? I am leaning towards the courtesy delivery.

Post Truth is I don't know HOW I'll get it.

Dealers are here aren't too thrilled with Courtesy Delivery. Not that that matters of course, but...

I am thinking about taking the time and DRIVING it myself. See I plan to keep this one a long time - and I thought it would be a great experiience. Especially once I got past the break-in period.

Had wanted to do the Euro delivery and drive it around Norway for two weeks but the timing didn't work out.

Dean,

I live about 30 minutes south of the dealership and a friend of mine owns a company that applies the 3M clear bra. If you are going to drive across the country, I suggest you invest in this product. I have it on all my cars and it is GREAT. I will flat bed mine home and then have him put it on, then all hells going to break loose .

If you want he will come to my house and put it on before your trip. Just email me if you want to know more.

Great car. I was torn between the slate grey and the guards red.
I picked the guards red because all my other porsches were the same color combo.

GOOD LUCK

May just take you up on that

This is the same thing that people have on their m5's right?

I saw it on a blue one and in pix - really nice.

How invisibile is it? And how much and how long to do?

And if the car's at the dealership a few days before I get there culd he do it there? Wouldn't want to have to put you out.

On the other hand - we could have a TT photo op.

Had the 3M on an Arctic Silver TT. Was applied to the front bumper and first 3rd of the hood including the area between the headlights and the front tires, the side mirrors, and the rear fender flare area around the entire wheelwell section. It looked great. People very rarely noticed it unless I pointed it out, and then they'd say "oh, yeah, now I see it. Looks good!" I haven't seen the 3M on other colored Turbos. Just make sure the person who does it knows his stuff and make sure there are no bubbles, peeling, creasing, etc. It should be perfect and can be done to look perfect. Mine was done so, fortunately.

Nice options, too! The aluminum dials are amazing. The door sills are a nice touch, too. The belts will be sweet.

clear bra

I had the clear bra on my 2000 996 arctic silver just on the bumper and you could barely see it. I also had it put on my 01 carbon black M5 bumper, lights and hood strip. I eventually took it off the hood because it was too noticiable on the dark color. I have it on my 02 titanium silver M5 bumper, lights and hood strip and it is not very noticieable. Cost was around $350.

I went by the guys shop today to get a ding out of my M5
and I asked him about the clear bra for the 996 tt and he said it's a pain to do because all of the curves in the front bumper. The first one he did he ruined 4 of the kits but he's got it down now.
My car is going straight there when I get it; I hate rock chips!

Dean: I owe you a buck! Slate grey it is. I still want to see it in person if I can find one locally if not I will take my chances.
Thanks for the additional pics and info.
Bill

You must be talking about mine...

It's pretty invisible...harder to see on darker colored cars than lighter ones. It's also very hard to apply the 3M clear bra on the 996TT from what my installer tells me but it's do-able. Make sure you find an installer who has done one before.

And no that's not me in the car...

Yep, I was talking about you

And your photos of your M5 inadvertantly soured me a little on my Titanium M5. Not that I didn't love it -- but shortly after I saw yours here I saw one in person and thought there was something so distinctive about that color. Guess I like my colors to feel that way -- then again who doesn't?

Am going to do the clear bra -- though the purist in me wants nothing on the car at all, let it live a natural life.

Then again my old TT's were silver, which hid chips a lot better than Slate will for sure.
