Seal vs Slate -- one man's opinion

Made a special trip to a dealer to do a side by side. I suggest anyone who is going back and forth on this to do the same.

The Slate is a color you see a lot less of, obviously, so it is hard to find. I went there sure that I wanted Seal.

Took one look and realized I HAD to have Slate.

That's definitely not what I wanted to hear! I thought I had my mind made up on seal as well but now I will have to see slate. Can you post any pictures? I believe slate is not a standard color and costs about $2500? Not much in the grand scheme of things but it does start to add up quick.

I'm getting pix on Monday

Will pass them along.

Best I can describe it -- Think Seal Grey meets Carbon Black from the M5. WORTH looking if you are on the fence - believe me.

Will also make the car more unique.

I will as soon as I get them

Anyone in LA can go see a side by side at Circle Porsche in Long Beach. They have to cabs - one in seal, one in slate.

And FWIW - both colors do look great. I'd take the Seal in a heartbeat. I just happened to see the Slate and liked it even more.

Poor man's look at the difference

Still waiting for the pix, but I've come up with a decent cheat!

Put the following two Avatars side by side:

The one Adam uses (two posts up)

vs.

The one Pieter uses (which is on the What is a Cayenne thread)

Think of Adam's as the Seal and Pieter's as the Slate.

Hope that helps.

Dean

Dean,

Don't think for a second that we are going to let you off the hook with that pseudo comparison of the two colors. We want different angled views of the two colors side by side. If you can talk them into it let us know which is faster Seriously though if you can get pics that would be great because neither of the dealers in town has a slate grey in stock. Hey it's just another excuse to go by the Porsche dealership and gawk.
Thanks, Bill

I'm working on it -- meantime I'll bet you $1

Bet ya a dollar you end up with Slate.

I'm hounding the guy to send me those photos. If not, I'll make time to go take some myself.

You're On!

I figure I lose either way, if you win I am out $1 + $2,230. If I win I only have about $114,999. to go

Don't remind me, I am afraid to add them up Seriously though I am not going to run it up too much. I was just reading the order and price guide manual and it says "ordering these exterior colors can delay production by an additional 2 to 4 weeks form the original production month" slate grey metallic is one of the colors listed. Has the dealer mentioned this or said anything about it?
