Information about X-50 option.

I am just curious if anyone has ordered the X-50 option. One of the dealerships in town tells me that there is limited allocation for this option and that it can not be ordered on just any 2002. He claims that it is in effect the GT2 engine with modifications to the transmission and a few other changes. I thought it was just 35 hp more. Do you guys feel this option is a good investment of 17K and if it will help the value that much when selling the car later? I have also heard or read that this option may be standard for 2003. I am thinking about waiting till August for a 2003 and want to know what changes there might be for 2003. Thanks
Bill

This sounds about right, generally the last or close to the last year of a turbo model, they usually commemorate it with a higher HP version model. I don't think the X50 upgrade is really worth the price, there are many reputable tuners getting over +100 Hp relatively easily. If you are willing to spend over $17K for the X50 upgrade, you can get into the 600Hp range with ohter reputable tuners.

I heard the problem though with tuning the engine with a tuner would void your warranty on the engine...if anything goes wrong however do the tuners sell or give warranties?

all the best
Adam

Yes, most reputable tuners offer warranties.
