          One unhappy 996 Turbo Customer...

          Got a mail:

          Hi Gustav,

I sold my M5 for the turbo and it was the worst mistake I ever made.
I sold the turbo, it wasn't near the car the M5 is and costs a lot more
money. The turbo is way over priced. The M5 had no rattles and
the Porsche was full of rattles and build quality was poor on the
          Porsche.

          My best regards,

Soo, at least one that regrest the switch...

Maybe a Mondaymorning car! Have driven a few Porsches, more of the new 996 type and all were very good cars, same built quality as the BMW. So he probably bought an M5 again?

          A reply:

I don't think it was a Monday morning car. They all have rattles. The
diverter valves on the turbos made a honking noise as well as the
          car being full of rattles.

This will be interesting to see how many people flame me. They
flamed me on the turbo board, so I don't really care.

          Best regards,

I don't see any reason to be flamed. Some why or another the car has rattles, can't the dealer sort it out. If you buy a car in that price catagory you can expect it to be properly built! Good luck anyways. Take care,

Different people will always have different experiences. No need to get flamed here -- you're not making statements that aren't backed up by real experiences. You're obviously having issues and if you can't get them worked out or don't want them worked out, then time to look for another car! Good luck.

          Gustav,

You didn't write that yourself, did you?

If you are an M5 owner faced with the decision of changing your car, what are the choices?

          1. Another M5
          2. 996TT
          3. Qvale
          4. ?

It would not be one of my choices.

Actually, it probably wouldn't be mine either but I just threw it in there ... (I like Healeys and it's loosely related I think since Jensen made the last Healeys and Qvale bought Jensen, I believe) ... my choice looks more and more like another M5.
