Anyone ever see that annual run that Lamborghini arranges for their owners? They leave LA and drive up the coast to Carmel. They usually get the CHP to escort at greater than 70 MPH speeds? Anyone want BMW to try and arrange the same thing for M-owners? Anyone know who to talk to?
no offense, but a lambourghini deserves it, as you can only drive it for 5% of it's life anyways. besides, that v12 is sonorous. the m5 isnt exactly music to my ears. i love mine to death, but that exhaust note doesnt do it for me.
besides, there are probably 100x more of us
wasn't that parade of the bulls a one time thing, led by mario andretti? i wonder how much chp let them push it to.

We can. The Ferrari Clud of Louisiana had an event earlier this year which included a tour of the bayou. A state trouper in a supercharged Camaro lead the group of Ferraris through the countryside at speeds up to 170mph for the cars that would go that fast. Several F40s and an F50 could go that fast and so could the Camaro. So we need the M5 folks in Louisiana to have an event using the same cops. I'll be there. Just let me know when !
I wished that we had state troopers in California that would escort us at 170MPH! (without escorting us to jail). Fat chance that we could get a CHP to do that for us.
God Bless it. I love it. I was married there (New Orleans). Each year for several years in a row I've practiced my zydeco dancing at the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival. But let's face it, Louisiana is...different. I can't imagine a Georgia law enforcement official, on or off duty, leading a caravan of citizens down Georgia's federal and state highways at ultra illegal speeds. It would be, or course, irresponsible.
When I turned 40 (too long ago, I'm afraid), I treated myself to a new 911. One early Saturday morning, the local chapter of the Porsche Club of America sponsored a drive from Atlanta to Road Atlanta that ended with an opportunity to drive around the Road Atlanta circuit. About 40 of us had a police escort from our point of assembly onto and around the north perimeter freeway and then onto I-85. The police escort waved us goodbye at that point and we were on our way. 60 mph soon gave way to speeds well over 100 mph with Porsches drafting, and passing each other each other as speeds were attained that made some of us uncomfortable in a wolf pack like that. Bear in mind, that even at 7:00 AM there are still non-participants trolling along out there, in those days going 55 mph. There were many opportunities for sudden, high speed, panic braking. It was chaos. I saw several Porsches spinning out in the grass median before I lucked upon an exit and a safe way to get to the rear of the pack.
