What is your opinion on the Borla exhaust system

          Hi everybody!

I am from San Juan PR and I can say that today I am a happy owner of a 2002 M5.

I've been reading for the past few days a lot of articles about exhaust systems for the M5. If I am going to spend some money on an exhaust system It better give the car some extra horsepower. As far as I know I could get at least 12-14 HP with the borla exhaust.

Please give me some advices according to your experiences.

I have it and love it!

I have it installed on my 2002 M5, I love the sound, deep and throaty.

Overall, I'd say it's the best deal, $1100 for a Cat back system.

Here is a dyno video with my Imola w/Borla.

          Also, some borla pics.

I heard efontana's borla exhaust. It sounds very very nice. Nice burble on th elow end, and a nice wail on the high end. The tips look awesome too!

          efontana, great vid!!

I second 'Rocket's opinion. I heard efontana's Borla system and liked it. Nice low end rumble but can really sound mean when the barrels open up. Check out all of the exhuast comparisons on the site. There are a bunch of good videos.

Either Summit or Jegs sells the Borla for $864. A hell of a deal! It does have a lot of separate pipes with a potential for leaks. You may want to consider welding instead of clamping them.

I know people kind of rag on Borla because it's an American exhaust, but I've used their systems on a lot of vehicles and have NEVER had a problem with them. Very well made, and the lifetime warranty doesn't hurt either!

efontana, your site is not working. Do you have a new site or can you point me to pictures and sound clips? How is the Borla on the highway - I like how quiet the stock unit is. Is the Borla much louder?

I don't believe Eric (efontana) has his beast anymore. I maybe wrong but I was sure he posted some time ago about selling it and getting a Z4. Too bad a I really liked his Imola Beast.

          Regards,

          Terk.
