A-Z List of Vehicle Acceleration
I don't know who did the testing for all of these or how accurate they are (1999 M5 @ 0-60 in 4.6, 1/4 in 13.0/111), but it's interesting nonetheless.

Furthermore, does anyone else find it odd that the M5 beat the Z8?

The M5 used in the results was the author's personal car. He felt that he had more experience with the car than test publications, so he did the acceleration runs.
He paced off a quarter mile with a meter stick, converted that to feet and had his girlfriend call out seconds by a freshly wound Timex as he passed the different marks he had placed.
He used the M5 speedometer, brilliantly using the speedometer lag to cancel out the optimistic reading. He needed to extrapolate some of the data in his head while she was calling out the seconds and made a second run to be sure his calculations were in fact, correct.
Some have been critical of his work, but he pointed out that a 30 MPH tailwind and the downhill slope were not that big a factor. This might have been acceptable if only his last marker, a convenient cow that was munching grass along the road, hadn't moved several yards to get a drink of water. Since he didn't know which way the cow moved, he didn't adjust the final results.

Hey Bart, you're probably right, ROTFLOL! Now that I've had a chance to go over the list in more detail, there certainly are more than a few questionable items. Maybe people just send in "data" and it's listed. By the way, my M5 ran a 0-60 time of 2.75 seconds last week (I pushed it off a cliff).
Actually. that's what it would really do: S=1/2at^2, ds=v, ds=at, 60 MPH = 88 f/s, a=32 f/s^2, t=88/32=2.75 sec (neglecting air resistance of course).
This weekend we're going to push some other vehicles off and see if we can determine what various cars Cd's are.

Stopping distance
Roton,
With cliff testing the stopping times must be phenomenal!
Be sure to calculate the G forces for the different cars.
I know it will be more effort, but the results can listed on a web page for all to see.
