Some question about a new 08 M5

Hi

First of all i'm new here, im from Switzerland, so my english is not as good as yours, but I hope you understand me.

So I have some questions about an 08 M5 @ US.
Because in Switzerland an M5 cost about ~ 155k $ an in the US about ~96k $, a dollar to a Swissfranc is nearly 1 to 1.

So my questions are:

Is it possible to change the menu language of the IDrive?
Is it possible to change the menu language of the Navigation System?

Are there any other differents between an US and an European(germany or switzerland) M5??

Thanks a lot.

im sure it can be done !!

but by the time you get the car over there and pay all the taxes it'll probably end up costing the same !!

The menu for USA settings is for North America and can not be changed without removing the i-Drive brain.

The settings for NA (North America) are for English, Spanish and French.

Same for Navigation. While the Navigation will work in EU the language still needs to be converted.

I am sure that it can be reprogrammed; however as of now only the languages I mentioned are accessible.

Also just so people are aware BMW/NA and BMW/AG are cracking down on export cars. So when you do export your BMW from NA to EU the warrenty will be void so if you have an issue such as engine, prepare to pay out of pocket for everything.

No, That would normaly be true, but not for USA cars going to EU. This is BMW/AG way of making sure you do not buy a USA car at a price that is lower than in the EU.

Why not buy a slighty used German M5? The prices are good and it is a EU car that would have the warrenty.

Hmm so it might be bether to buy the car in EU. This warranty means in whole Europe oder only in the European union? So I will have a look at an used M5 in Germany with about 2000km or something like that.

Hy Guys

I just found a nice Privat Person who has an Black M5 with about 8000km for sale. I made an arrrangement to visit & test drive it next week.
My Question is how can I see if it is an 07 or 08 M5? Because the 05/06 Models have some problems. The Date of registration is 07/2007 but thats no the date of manufacture.

Thanks

Good suggestion........sounds like a bureaucratic can of worms otherwise.

Open the driver's door. On the rear sill (the bottom of the B pillar) there is a plate which will tell you the date of manufacture. 9/06 is the start of the 07 model year. I don't know when the 08 year started but I think it was 3/07 (it was early).
