Beer and the M5 are not a good idea
Thirty minutes ago after running a errand I went to buy groceries and Guiness and Amstel Light were both on offer. Being my favorites I picked up two 6-packs. I live 3/4mile from the grocery store and, I'm sure this comes as no surprise, needed to get some gas. So I took a 1 miles detour during which all hell broke loose. I had the window down and just wanted to hear the engine scream, feel the brakes bite. I could hear clattering as I braked for lights, but thought I was okay. Those bottle caps are hardy little things, I thought. How wrong I could be. When I parked up in the garage and opened up the trunk the smell of booze hit me. Four of the Amstels had gone and two of the Guiness'. They laid strewn around the back half empty. Oops.
Luckily I have a dry cleaners around the corner so off I went to drop of my beautiful M5 trunk mat. I felt like Britney Spears' mom dropping her daughter off at the clinic. The woman in the shopped looked at my mat, who had bravely defended my trunk, with disgust. I shall make sure never to subject it to that kind of drunken behavior again.
I was driving under the influence of a 500bhp V10 is all I can say in my defense. What a useless grocery getter.

Carl,
Because of you, I bought the trunk mat. I received it about a week ago and today, for some reason (it was 7am) I decided to take the M5 to Hoe Depot (original typo, but it looked funny, so I didn't correct it) to pick up some small supplies which included a gallon of paint thinner.
I put all in the trunk and I was freaking out all the way home. I actually was thinking I would get back to the house and see the paint thinner all over my mat. The best part this was, I was thinking I would post it and you (Carl Lassiter) would tell me what a knuckle head I was for putting something so offensive in my trunk on my mat!
This is weird!! Anyway, good luck with the cleaning. I need to listen to that little voice and yours!

(maybe cheers is inappropriate in this case)

Mine was worst...
Kung Po Chicken in the trunk. The smell was so bad that I had to buy new mats.
From that moment on I always have a tray strapped under the cargo net with me most of the time.

I'm not sure if that beats lobster juice, 1st day was fine, just a very faint smell, the next day, OH MY GOD.

Good lord that post made me laugh all the way through. Glad it had a happy ending though.
Funny a trunk mat is supposed to protect the car but all we can worry about is the mat itself. Really was worth every one of the $99 it cost though. Looks and feels great.
I used a sticky roller thingy to take off the loose material when I first got it and have been proudly surveying very time I open my trunk ever since. The fact I'm going to miss it for the next two days may be a sign of deep rooted problems. My gf certainly thinks so but maybe she just doesn't get it.

Buy two BMW oil cases. $5.95 each and velcro to the inside of the trunk. Looks like they were meant to be there all along.
