And so it begins all over again - BMW Transmission Saga on second 2007 M5

2007 M5 with 42K miles. Red cog of death. Banging sounds in transmission. SA ordered clutch assembly but called today that they won't be putting it in and waiting for BMW field rep to arrive tomorrow as they suspect its hydraulics and not the clutch. Damn you BMW, damn you. I wish I had never purchased this POS!

I hope so.

As for miles I broke it in by picking it up from dealership in nj and driving it to phoenix (1200 mile service in knoxville). We have also driven it to and from Chicago couple of times and then there is commute of about 120 miles a day (30 miles to work, 30 miles to lunch at home, 30 miles to work, 30 miles to home - $800 a month in gas is still cheaper than 20-40 a day in eating lunch out).

I did see two B7 on the dealer lot. One was new 2008 model for 122K and the second was a 2007 @ 109K. They also had a 760il for 134K (after all was said and done). All three looked gorgeous and I would consider them as a replacement while I still have warranty on my M5, was it not for my swearing earlier never to buy a BMW again after what BMW NA put me through the first time around.

Oh the excuse isn't for my employer, I make too much money for the company for me to need permissions or excuses for anything, its more aimed at convincing myself (and partially wife) that its a good value for money to drive home to have lunch

Thanks, i sure hope so. The last time it started with my previous one, it ended up being at the shop for more than a month in 4 months of ownership, one glitch after another. Hope its different this time round. Thanks for the kind words.
