New Dinan Shop in Campbell, CA

Does anyone know the scoop on the new Dinan shop in Campbell? It looks like Dinan has taken over A&E Performance. A&E has been around for a long time (~20 years). Perhaps the owner, Al, decided to sell the business and retire. No announcement on the internet or on the phone. Kind of curious.

I've been going to A&E for years and trusting my various BMWs to Al for any out of warranty repairs. Just called and talked to Matt, who is the new general manager. The scoop is that Al is retiring, but all the same techs are still working there and the labor rates haven't changed. I'll be taking our M3 and 330i there for inspections pretty soon and will let y'all know if I find out anything more.

Thanks for the follow up. Interesting. Well, sorry to see Al go with no fanfare. I also have been a customer at A&E since the late 80's, when they were in their small shop off of Winchester near Campbell Ave. I ended up picking up my previously (pre-M5) favorite BMW there. I was in the office, picking up my 530i, when there was a customer talking about selling his car with Michael (who used to be a service advisor there). Michael was telling the customer his car was worth much more that he was thinking of selling it for. I ended up picking up a very nice '83 Euro 735i with a manual transmission and ABS. I ended up having A&E install a sport suspension. I really enjoyed that car.

One concern about this though. It may turn out to be expensive to have a Dinan shop that much closer to home :-)

I just saw an ad on a Palo Alto newpaper... The Campbell site is their new shop. I've been to the one in Mtn. View and their service is great. I had inspection I and II done on my 3 series there and they are cheaper than Mtn. View or Fremont BMW.
