Imola Red Purchase...{PICS}

K so i went to look at an imola red i've been looking at since september...i couldn't get it to a independent for a proper ppi so i went...found a couple leaks:

-driver's side driveshaft {where it's bolted on not the rubber seal that looks like an old mitsubishi shift knob boot}

-something by the right front suspension was leaking i couldn't narrow it down...but a few thinks were replaced

-the right front corner of the bumper is broken...possibly for the same reason those peaces where replaced...

see pics for everything i pointed out and see if you spot something i missed...

*there where these two thinks that i had identical dimpels {big ones} i'm thinking they're part of the design take a look i put the pic up twice with and without the yellow circle...

...more pics later

With all due respect, if you can't identify a halfshaft by name (or a CV boot by name, for that matter), I honestly think you need to take the car to a professional for a prepurchase inspection.

f-it i'm not getting it...the dealer doesn't want it to leave the lot {-_-...they have only 1 plate and it's for test drives...} and i really don't want to bother finding out how much it is to get that bumper fixed so i can discount it from the purchase price...only thing is that it's a shame my dad likes this one because it only has 25k miles and it's cpo...but that nasty looking hole looks like it was left like that after they replaced the some of the front right suspension...let them take it to whole sale so they can feel like d**ks for not taking our offer back in september

i appreciate your inputs as i was just waiting for a reason to say no...as far as names go, it doesn't matter how many times i hear it i'm shite with names...

Keep looking?

My car only had 24k on it a few months ago when I purchased it and it did not look like that one (regarding leaks and damage). I looked and looked for a year, but finally found the one and for some reason I knew it was the one for me. It is strange that the dealer would not let you have a PPI on it just because of a license plate issue....epescially if they are honest and want to sell it....retail.

Also, I find it strange to have leaks when it is still under CPO. The last person must not have maintained it very well. Do you have the maintanence records and carfax? Perhaps you could have an independent mechanic come by and look at it there for a few $$$. I would imagine that you may have a little time to research this car because I think most people would not buy it without a PPI. Just my .02.

Good luck,

James

the dealer said have someone come here and use our facilities, but the closest shop is motor works west and their guys dont leave their premises...so i'm stuck in the middle...i've been looking at this car since september when they first got it...we were willing to pay 42500 for it but they decided it was a smart move to sit on it until now {40...& i know i can go lower especially with the bumper and leaks}...i'll keep looking, but it's tough to find a cpo that has been maintained...the owners who decide to sell come fall/winter time undoubtably take the cars out for their last balls out miles so all these bumps bruises leaks etc etc are the result of it...
