Impromptu Alex Roy Meeting - Charlotte, NC - Sunday, 11/11

Just wanted to see if any M5ers would want to get together for a impromptu Meeting with the infamous Alex Roy in Charlotte. Just got wind of this from Alex, so thought it'd be a cool opportunity to get some M5 owners/etc. together for a meet.

Let me know if you're interested in coming...Still working on arranging a time/place to meet up.

Sorry about the delay folks, my brother spoke to Alex this afternoon and the plan is to meet at P.F. Changs @ Phillips Place in the South-Park end of Charlotte at 9PM on Sunday. There should be an update on the Blog on Alex's website tomorrow sometime ( http://www.gumball144.com/ )

I would love to go home for this but 9 hours is a long drive for one event...I will tell my Charlotte M5 buddies about this though to see if they can make it, they might not know about the meet tomorrow. Have fun and if you don't mind afterwards just post to this thread about how it went, how many cars showed up, etc... that would be great!

No problem Ted, I can completely understand considering the time/distance.

I'll definitely post some pictures/etc. I believe Alex said he was going to throw something on his Blog about the meeting too.

Just got back from the GTG. It was a fun dinner. I think about 12 made it to meet the star of the Gumball 3000 Rally and his M5. He had countless on the road stories from just this past week. More are in his book about the Gumball "The Driver". They are touring the country going to car shows and book signings. See here for a pic of the E39 M5.

Thank you Trevor and Robert for the updates and pictures, sounds like you had a fun time! I'm sure Alex's car got a great deal of attention as well, it is a star all on it's own

I must say, of all the 'almost celebrities'(Most of them having some ties with motorsports) within the automotive world that I've had a chance to meet, Alex was easily the most entertaining and down-to-Earth.

Anyway, I'm glad things worked out for our little GTG...Maybe we'll try this again on a different scale when he comes back through NC.
