          Dinan Chip Question

          2 Part Request for info

Looking for some advise, I have a 2000 M5, I've recently changed the exhaust and added CAI system. I was told by a fellow Beast Driver that I need to have my dinan chip reflashed to reflect the mods. Has anyone run into this issue before?

Also purchased a Rogue Short Shifter, but have yet to install, has anyone installed one and have tips to share.

          Thanks in advance.....Kiko

If you want the maximum gains with your Dinan mods then yes, you should get the appropriate software upgrade which I believe is a Stage 2 with the exhaust and CAI. Anytime you buy and have Dinan install any of their performance products which require a re-flash they do it for free. At least that's the deal I've gotten since 1992 and 2 BMW's ago.

I installed my Rogue SSK which I believe is an improvement over stock. You have to get the car up on a lift or on jackstands. The shifter part is easy. The harder part is the WSSR (selector rod). There's a clip holding in the stock rod on the tranny end which is tucked behind the driveshaft which is a little harder to reach and/or see. I used a mirror from my wife's makeup kit to visualize it then had to remove it by feel. Same with installing the Rogue selector rod. I recommend the product.

To answer your question...yes, I would upgrade the software.

Oh, and FYI...all Dinan provides is a software flash into your existing ECU...there is, in reality, no new "chip". You probably know this, just mentioning it for clarification

The Rogue shifter is great, very easy install if you have even basic mechanical skill. Need a good jack or ramps and a bit of patience. The instructions are pretty clear with the hardware.

          Good Luck
          Brian
