Check out my new grill -Smoked Shadow!

I used Dupli Metalcast Smoked Anodized Paint(awesome paint). I did 4 layers and then cleared it with Rust-oleum Clear Coat(great stuff by the way). For the inner slats, I used a Black Satin paint.

I popped the grill off to do the job. Car looks badass!

Some before shots of my car and after pics ... I still need to get far away shots. The new grill shots below are inside my garage. Stay tuned for updated far away shots. I think the car looks much better without the chrome.

I agree about the no chrome - did you do any prep to the grilles before spraying? I keep thinking I should just spray mine, but I'm not sure if any scuffing should be done so that the paint has something to stick to.

Sorry to say not my cup of tea, they look "dirty" as though they haven't been washed. Maybe some other pictures a little further away may help

No prep before spraying. At first, I wasn't sure if it would stick to the grilles, but I didn't have a problem, it stuck just fine.

I laid 4 semi-thick layers of the paint, and then clear coated it 3 layers. It turned out perfect.

My brother said the same thing .. but a couple days ago when I got home, he was looking out the window and immediately called me and said how awesome it looked outside under the sun.

It's a million times better in person, the pics don't do justice.

It's a much cleaner look, but you have to see it in person to know what I mean.

I plan to get the wheels powdercoated Antracite, so the whole package will come together nicely.

Lol, I did the same thing on our 540iT and Z4 MC to match their RGRs. What sucks is the inevitable rock chips later on...

Did you clear coat it a couple layers? Rust-oleum clear coat works wonders, I've used it for numerous paint jobs I've done to all my past and present cars. Obviously, some chips here and there are inevitable, but the clear coat helps a great deal.

-I used Duplicolor's clear coat, which I applied five times. Didn't seem to help at all. I've not been fond of Rust-oleum's products in the past, but I'll try their clearcoat next time I do the project.

Interesting look MD.
I am undecided as yet if I like it. Can you post a non-blurry picture in sunlight?

I am thinking of doing this to my interior trim (brushed alum.) - driver's door, transmission tunnel and handbrake are flaking.
Do you think it would look good for those parts?

Salty.

I've used Rust-oleum products on various projects with satisfactory results. Try their clear coat, you won't be disappointed.
