CSL, place your orders please!

According to the latest BMW Car mag, M division have the order books open, and are recieving orders for a very limited run of CSL's.
OK so who's first, place your name on the list.
£155k though.

Put these words from a well known phrase in the right order "sense more money than" I can't see anybody other than a racing team or serious collector paying that sort of money. I understood that the numbers produced would be very low and that BMW will lose money on each one but need to have them due to the ALMS rules.

It'll be interesting to see if BMW return to the likes of BTCC, or some other form of European motor racing series with a team of these (or at least the likes of Schnitzer etc)
Still if houses are going up in price to well over £200k for an avge 3 bed, then perhaps £155k on a car isn't to bad?
(way out of my league, that's for sure).

Love to see BMW back in BTCC but unfortunately the current rules restricted to 4 cyl engines. Guess they could do something with 318i or with a compact.

Think there's a woopsie here ;-)

Hi Guys,

Think there maybe a woopsie here.

The M3 GTR (350hp V8) is projected to cost £157,000, not the CSL.

Though I must admit, I have yet to see some sort of pricing placed against the CSL, I can't see it costing anywhere near the same as the GTR, IMO.

Scott

I just read it straight from the mag, perhaps in their haste to print it, they mispelt it?

Andy,

If you read this months Top Gear, there is a tiny article about it near the front of the magazine. The CSL also made a small appearance in the news section in EVO magazine as well.

Also, when at my dealer last week they were kind enough to show me the internal "BMW InfoWeb" news pages. It clearly stated the GTR costs, but made no mention of the CSL.

Given the difference in spec over these cars, I cant see how the CSL could possibly cost £155k.

The sales manager put a guesstimate of £60-70k on the CSL. Seems much more realistic.

Hope this was of interest.

You are correct, my appologies, I miss read the article, which chats on about the CSL, but refers to the GTR in the ordering/pricing section.

How's the Duc. would love to have one of them (a fascination, but have never riden a Ducatti m'bike).

Regards
Andrew

Andy,

No probs mate

The Duc's wonderful, thanks, on my third one now and never looked back.

You either love them, or hate them. I love them - my wife hates them - especially when a new model gets released, hehe.

M Gmbh are accepting orders. It will be due 03 or 04 and priced around 180 000 DM.
No too bad considering it is supposedly faster than GT3 and 996 Turbo on Nordschleife.

Cheers,
