My wife and I had the best time at the basic M school. My wife was initially most fearful of the wet driving on the track where sliding is expected, but ended up have the most fun in those sessions. I enjoyed it all and am hoping to go back to the next level M school.

I was there two weeks ago and its the most fun I've had since I was a kid. And even one day is enough to give you a far greater appreciation of what the cars are capable of -- particularly the brakes and DSC. However, it doesn't do anything making you feel more comfortable about the lack of low end torque.

Hey, a friend of mine told me that M owners get to go to M School for free but I looked on the site and there's no mention of that. Anyone have any info?

Yes all M owners get to go to the school for free. Your stealer should have given you the details.

Call them they will send you the forms - you can get the form by email too.

Remember there is a difference between the M Driving Experience (the one-day event that is free with your purchase) on the one hand, and the M School and Advanced M School (the two-day schools that are not free).

I am going to the "Perfektionstraining" at the Nürburgring in 2 weeks. Unfortunatly you cant drive your own car and have to drive BMW's M-coupés.

I dont know why BMW doesnt offer events where you can drive your own car!?

In the US it would likely be liability...to the insurance company - "well, the instructor told me to take it a bit faster than last lap and that's how I wound up against the wall."

Even the M-driving experience is terrific. I would have preferred 2 days, but the 1-day event is packed full of instruction. You'll be driving M5s and in one instance, M-coupes all day long.
