wind noise/whistle at 60+ and rear decklid rattle

hello everyone...just finished driving my brand new 07 from illinois to New York today. I will write about my drive and break in procedure later but have a couple questions. first, the car is awesome...i had a blast driving it even though i was paying careful attention to varyng speed and gears while not going over the recommended rpm threshold. After spending 15+ hours int he car, I have picked up on a couple things.

1) high pitched(low volume) whistle coming from somewhere???its not the windshield wipers--think maybe sunroof area...does anyone know what i am talking about

2) over bumps, there is a rattle in the rear decklid...could it be seatbelt housing in the decklid?

Both of these items have been covered in the recent past.

1) Windshield needs to be re-sealed

2) There are a couple of us (me included) that have the rear deck rattle. Mine seems to be coming from the area where the rear stop light meets the headliner. I'm bringing my car in to service in 2 weeks to fix. There is a member in the UK that isolated the sound to the same area. Yours might not be in the exact area but you are not alone. My suggestion is to make sure you can duplicate the sound and let BMW deal with it.

Windshield seal may be an issue, as has been said. However, is it relatively faint? I found that, for whatever reason, my car developed a slight whistle from the driver's side mirror. I can roll down the window, and the noise is still there, but if I put my hand around the mirror it goes away (usually just a finger near the bottom will may it disappear). Annoying in this expensive of a car, but not willing to deal with the shop for anyone to diagnose it.

This is NOT THE WINDSHIELD........I know what he is talking about. And yes, I was one of the first M5 to have had my windshield resealed .

If you roled down your window and place your hand on the top of the side mirror, your whilstle will go away...

It is where the wind comes over the mirror and back in between the "glass part of the mirror" and the "mirror frame". I thought about electircal tape....but it is a $100k can and can't have that... I too would like to know how to fix this...

Maybe Hartge fabs a mirror splitter/lip to cotrol aerodynamics I'd improvise something, can't stand stray noise like that.

The seven series mirrors have serated top surfaces for just this reason, acts like a diffuser as the air passes accross and leaves the top surface of the mirror housing.

M5 mirrors have a lip on the bottom that is supposed to take care of this. I thought it was because of my wheels/tires, since that is about when I noticed the noise. I was wrong, as when I put the stock wheels/tires back on for a couple months it was still there. I can only notice it around 55-65mph, and since I don't spend very much time there ;-) it hasn't bothered me enough to do something about it.

i used painter's tape and taped my entire windshield seal --i did it in sectoions and from what i can tell, it may be coming from sections that trail around along the door line at the top. the faint whistling is GONE...my noise was a low, high pitched whistle...it seems to be gone...this NOT a wind noise but a low whistle that developed at 60mph...drive 900 miles straight and you will want to jump off a bridge. my car is going in for the 1200 mile service Tuesday. will keep you posted.
