There may be settings in the idrive for it to (not sure), but they turn on for a few seconds when you unlock the car remotely.

Problem solved

I found out, if you press the interior light switch, the one in the middle, next to the sunroof switch, for a few sec you can
enable/disabled the downlight in the side mirror and the interior light.
Now I´m happy again!

The length of time the side puddle lights stay on can be programmed through the I-Drive. Read your manual and be aware the menu screen varies by software version installed.
