Couple of questions (bought a new M5)

Hello,

As I posted earlier, I ordered my 2008 M5 SMG in june.
I'm receiving it the end of september.

I have a few questions:
1. Is it possible, when you are driving, to put the SMG in neutral, give it some gas, en then put it back into drive or sequential? (Just to give some gas to show off )
2. Is it possible to put the car in reverse or neutral by using the paddles, or do you have to put the "stick" into it manually?
3. Is it possible to be put into sleep untill I get my M5? I can't stand the waiting!

Thx!

Yes, you can put the SMG in "N" while driving, just be careful going back into gear. Actually this is one of the ways to reset the SMG after new tires.

The car only goes into reverse with the stick.

Happy waiting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why you want to either sleep or wait? Go shop for some mods for your M5- exhaust, wheel, etc and time will fly...

I have been afraid to go into N while driving since I was on the highway a year ago doing 70 and couldnt get it back into gear again for at least a minute! Of course, and SMG problem on my early production date. A tale of red cogs..

Interesting, any specs on the new M5 in 25th century?

I saw every single movie I could find on Youtube searching "m5, e60, m6, e63, e39, exhausts"

I'm glad i'm going for a holiday next week, should get it of my mind for a few weeks.

My dealer put the m5 in for production of august, so if there should be somebody that cancels their m5, then it would have a positive effect on delivery time, any chance i have that much luck?

Fortunately, the MY 2491 M5 will be able to reach relativistic speed allowing time travel back to 2007
Unfortunately, when you wake up in 2491 the M5 will be on allocation and the first delivery will be in 2 months

How can you put the car in neutral, lets say while doing 70 mph, so as to rev it and then put it back in gear without damage ? When you back in gear from neutral does not the gearbox go into 1st gear and at 70 mph this would be a disaster. Please I'd love an explanation. What does it mean, to put it back carefully ? To my understanding you can't skip gears with the SMG. So how can you go from neutral to lets say 5th gear as you're going at 70 mph ?

The car just goes into the appropriate gear based on speed. SMG will never select a gear that would over rev the engine.

You can do this coming up to any stop light in 3rd. Push it into neutral then push it back. You'll go back into 3rd or maybe 2nd if you slowed down in the process.

No worries...
