No, I personally would not have, not a conventional torque-convertor slushbox at least.

That isn't to say that I don't think the S62 engine would work well with one.

The stick is one major thing that puts BMW ahead of MB. Actually, the stick is the major reason why I went with BMW and not MB. The SMG sounds really cool but still, I want the fun!!

Might not be soo bad...

If the gearing were right, you wouldn't loose anything in the straight line acceleration dept.

Personally, I would think about it.

Angel-

True. But, if it were an option, would you consider it? The stick is not an option for the Merc's.

No way. I wouldn't even get an SMG, or choose any type of auto even if it were faster than the stick. Certain things shouldn't always be automated. I like shifting for myself.

I would ONLY consider it if I was forced to share my car with the wife or girlfriend No really, even if the SMG or auto was faster, I would still go for the stick. Just for the fun of it!

Harry

If MB did offer a stick on some cars, I may have considered something else other than the Beast. IMHO

I was one who always said "NEVER" to an automatic. But with the new SMG technology now is say, maybe.
From what I have heard about it in the press, it sounds awesome. Brutally fast shifts if that's what you want, yes! I'll reserve judgement until I try one. It will be a long time before one gets in the M5, I tbink.

NEVER. No SMG either. I'm a traditionalist, I want to be fully engaged with the car.
