beewang's excellent adventure Part3

Well... it appears that this pickup of "Blue Lightning" will be "more" adveturous than what I originalyy thought.... Long story short, the wife and I will be depart LAX to MEM on Friday morning. We'll be staying in MEM for 24 hours do the tourist thing by day (Graceland, etc) and meet the friends I've meet thru bimmer.org in the past 2 years by night (will be hanging out at the "Beale Street" on Friday night).

Saturday moring, we'll hop on the plane and head out to CLE by 11:30 am (Hey!! Y2KM5!! are you listening!!?? Think I need an "M5 Taxi"!! ). Won't be staying at CLE thou... ( as of right now. My dealer sez: "Dude there ain't nuting hare at Cleveland!!").

Figure I'll be on my way out about 3:00pm will head straight to CHI (how long is the drive from CLE to CHI!!??), check into hotel and meet w/ the CHI-town friends that I met thru the net Saturday night. BTW, will be making a pit stop in SouthBend to take a leak.... as I hate those bastards in blue/ green and gold (Beat!!! Da Irish!!) yeah.. will be leaving behind some of my personal "Cardinal & Gold" there in South Bend (Talking about leave my mark!!)

Sunday morning, we'll head west and drive past the corn husks... won't stop 'till we get to Denver, where I'll be paying my old pay TimW a visit. Will stay for the night and get my 1,200 miles service (will actually be 1,450 miles base on my estimation) on Monday moring. Figure i probably need to wash my front-end to get rid of the bugs gathered up on the headlights (Tim!! Can I borrow your water bucket and sponge?? )

After Denver, ... I think we'll go none stop to home....

that's all folks... will post pictures on a nightly basis.

beewang
Just 7 days togo!!! baby!!
P.S. beewang's excellent adventure part 1 and part 2 is on bimmer.org archive... not that it matters..

My dealer sez: "Dude there ain't nuting hare at Cleveland!!"

haaa? Maaan, your dealer must be smoking some good sh*t! Nuttin' here in Cleveland? Well, I guess I he doesn't know about the
1. RnR Hall of Fame with original Robert Johnson artifacts (ever heard of the guy that sold his soul to the devil at the cross-roads in 1920's?) to name just one of few extraordinary displays.
2. Very cool hands on Science center with some kick-a** IMAX movies
3. Crawford Auto and Aviation museum with multiple Buggati-s, a Jaguar SS100 (first mass produced car to do 100mph), DeLorean serial number 1 (yes that is the first car off the production line!). Aston Martin Lagonda (first computerized car if I'm not mistaken). How about a 1903 Benz! Yeah I'm sure they have those all over US. A small collection of early teen Harley Davidsons and the list goes on and on and on . . .
4. The Severance hall (home of the best orchestra in US)
5. The USS Cod, WW2 submarine and William Mather (steam ship from 1800's) both in the Cleveland harbour and open for public tours
6. Little Italy (who wouldn't want to go and eat at an original Italian place and sit next to your local mafia boss? j/k) It's an aswome place to wine and dine!
7. Coventry area where the local artists hang out. A bunch of cool stores. Highest number of coffee shops per square mile!
8. The Flats, legendary Flats! Sit outside on the banks of the Cuyahoga River ( YES the same one that cought on fire few decades ago. It's much better now, I swear! There are actually fish swimming in it!). Watch the river, the lake (Erie for those of you that might not be from US) and the bridges go up and down to let the ships and trains go through. Oh, sitting outside at the Fado's (a pub transported over from Ireland) eating smoked salmon and enjoying the lake breeze. Nothing like it! Also home to a number of famous (and infamous!) clubs and concert halls. Robert Lockwood Jr. (Robert Johnson's step son) plays every week even though he is 80+ years old. Some of the best blues north of the delta. Hard Rock Caffee, Agora (
9. Cedar Point! The number one amusement park in the world last three years in the row. 3 of the 5 best rides are located there. around 20 major rollercoasters in one park!
10. The Cleveland art museum. One of the nicest collections of paintings and artefacts in the world. here's a quote from them:
One of the world's great art museums. The Cleveland Museum of Art is a favorite destination for art lovers and casual visitors alike. The collection of more than 40,000 works of art ranges over 5,000 years from ancient Egypt to the present, and includes masterpieces from Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. It is renowned for its superb quality and cultural breadth. And check this out, IT'S FREE!
11. NASA Glenn Research facility with it's museum. Yeah, there are Apollo capsules and moonwalked suites on display all over the world, right? I don't think so
12. Numerous micro breweries and close by "wine country"

My relatives were here for two weeks and they left dissapointed that they didn't get to see everything!

Angry

Huh,
I got so upset about that comment that I posted the msg before I was done. In any case, I think you get my point. There is a slew of activity and things to do all year round. Cleveland has a lot going for it as long as you are looking for it.

Now back to your arrival, I had already made plans for the weekend, a charity pumpkin drop at my skydiving place (I can't wait to pitch pumpkins from a thousand feet up!), but I can be late. Are you arriving at 11:30 or are you departing MEM at that time?
Keep me posted!

you MUST MUST stop by Cedar Point! Everyone I've talked to have nothing but good things to say about that place. Hell, I bet you that I'll be making a trip there just to go to Cedar Point! They've got the world's coolest roller sled,...3 of them! I want to go...can I go with you Beewang?

Jason

P.S. I couldn't find "excellent adventures part 1 and 2" on bimmer.org. Can you give us a direct link to both? I'd like to see it.. hehe...

Hey Pierre!!
Don't sweat it!! especially when you have a previous commitment like jumping out of a perfectly good airplane .

I just thought it'd be fun to show up at the dealership (since no one really knows how/what i look like) sneak in there and peak into the M5 on the showroom w/ the sold sign on it and start to pop open the hood and trunk and start to kick the tire and stuff... and make 'em nervous!! I know...I know.... "GROW UP!!"

ahhh!! screw it!! I am still going to do it!!... because it just wouldn't be "beewang" if I didn't do that!!

Just 7 dazes to go!! BABY!!
