One more tire question...

Is it OK/safe to have "Z" rated tires in the back and "Y" rated tires up front?

Assuming you don't drive past the limits of the Y-rated tires, I don't see why not. But it implies you're running two different models of tire on the same car, and I'm curious why you would want to do that.

I ordered a set of 19" wheels and I would like to put the M pilot spots on. I can find 275/30-19 for the rear in a "Z" rated tire, but the 245/35-19 (pilot sport) is a "Y" rated tire. I was reading a little about the AC M5 on the website and AC said that the the sizes above are used and are Z rated (Mich.) According to tire rack, the 245's are "Y" rated. Just a little confused.

Fais2000, car is now at VPC. I was told that if I was lucky, this weekend. If not, the following. Hope all is good??

My rims are almost done with the chromers and I really have to figure out my tire situation ASAP. I know I can get the above sizes in Dunlop. Dunlop I think also has a 255 that I may want to put up front. Please help guys!

Thanks in advance,

Harry

I have yet to talk to my dealer about how he is going to compensate me. I will when I go to pick up the car. The clear corners and fog light conversion arrived as well as the DS2 low beam bulbs. The high beam conversion should arrive tomorrow. RM5, email me at hangelikas@att.net

Any suggestions with my tire situation? Anyone?

Darn tires!

Well, Michelin does not make "Z" rated tires in the size that I want. I guess AC must have made a mistake when they said that Michelin Pilot Sports are used (Z rated) on the AC M5 (with 19"'s). The size is available, but in a "Y" rating. I may have to go with the Dunlops SP 9000's.

hmm.. according to michelin's website, ALL pilot sports are ZR rated...
it clearly lists that they have a 245/35ZR19/XL available... don't see a Y rated tire anywhere on the list... I would imagine that tirerack has listed their inventory wrong...

Angel, I went through this same predicament you are experiencing. I waited 3 months for the Pilots in 19" for my ACS Racing III's. I spoke to a Mich rep at the Montreal F1 GP and he said that the 19" are a european market only, I had the same problem a year ago. You may find one size or the other but never both sizes at the same time! I ended up with the Bridgestone S0-3's and are very satisfied with them, also I didn't want to have a problem locating a tire if in the future I damage a single tire, then have to replace the whole set because they don''t have them in stock.
