Alpinas in the USA

Where is a good place to look to purchase Alpina cars in the US?

Thx - Steve

There are no Alpina dealers as such. You can order a brand new Alpina B7 based on the BMW 7 series but its delivery to North America has been delayed for some time now.

The used Alpinas which exist in the US were either brought in during the grey market years, or imported and federalized at the cost of a minimum USD $10,000. Or if you wait 21 years after the production year of the car, you can import the car without federalizing it. Someone else may have more accurate information.

USA EPA and DOT Regs.

Puppypilgrim is correct about the 21 years. However, the 21 years referenced only apply to US Gov. EPA requirements. The USA Gov. NHTSA or DOT requirements are still set at 25 years. Very little joy here.....

Which model and year are you considering? They come up for sale once in a while but not that often. As stated above you can have one all it takes is the extra money for the conversion.

Although I admire the performance capacity of the 3.5 liter B10 BiTurbo I don't see one in my future acquisitions. At the moment I am somewhat content with my e24 Alpina B10 3.5 #036, which unfortunately is down 108hp to the BiTurbo.

I think you're being too modest. The e24 B10 is a beautiful car. It may have less HP than the BT, but being content is an understatement. I know you get a thrill every time you drive it.

Not to mention I suspect there is a noticable weight difference between an E24 and an E34 BiTurbo...
