Alpina Display Donington - extra display space

http://www.fastsaloons.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=681

I've managed to secure space for an additional 20-30 cars outside the main arena in a gated secure compond ajacent to the main hall - the main shutter between the 2 spaces will be open during the day.

Tickets are £6 per person in advance Under 14's are free!! advance needs to be by the 12th October and via me.. (pm me or email me at andy@e28club.com for more details) as the organizer wants me to take responsibility for this area.

Cars need to be in place by 9.30am and the space is only open to genuine Alpina cars

Re: Alpina Display Donington - extra display space

Hi Andy

Good new about the additional spaces. I'm hoping to persuade my wife to come with me to the show in the hope of teasing her into allowing me to upgrade the car to a nice B10 If this is the case, I'll be bringing my 2 year old daughter. Are kids free?

Good work on the organisation front. I'm sure it will be a great day.

-Toby

PS. Love the www.e28club.com site by the way. Didn't know about it until I saw your post. One thing though, there don't seem to be any thumbnail images in the gallery area, only resizing of the full image. This makes the page sizes very large and very slow to download. An example page of a E28 with several small images had a total page size of almost 3.5 MB. This is probably chewing up the download limit from the ISP as well as making this part of the site unaccessible to people without high speed broadband. Anyway, I'm sure you already know about this.

Re: Alpina Display Donington - extra display space

tinkerman, you're right about what you say re the thumbnail images on the e28clubsite.. trouble is that i haven't really had the time to pay much attention to it recently and it was really only a hobbie to start with... as for download speeds.. the images do cause a problme for sure.. the other reason though is it's hosted on my home pc and it's only using a 256kb upload limit to load the page onto you machine...

should really get it sorted i know.. but it all takes time and at the mo the Alpina register is the focus..

Re: Alpina Display Donington - extra display space

Tell me about it, I often start websites as pet projects which later get left to die a sad lonely ***** through lack of updates. At least by running from home you aren't paying for that extra bandwidth (unless your personal ISP charges for this - mine doesn't)

Are young kids free at Donnington?

Re: Alpina Display Donington - extra display space

No ISP doesn't charge me anything more than standard monthly rate as i'm using the upload site of the connection not the download...

as for entry to the show Under 14's!! are Free! so no excuses...

Re: Alpina Display Donington - extra display space

i'm posting this in here as it applies to this thread too and to try and drum up any final interest...

ok guys quite a few of you have committed to the additional outside display area - cheers to those who have...

i'd have like more - but it should be a good display regardless. (i'm expecting in the region of 25-30 cars)

If anyone still wants to get in on the act so to speak then get in touch with me ASAP.. because I can't guarantee any spaces to those who just turn up on the day. (Tickets need to be bought in advance £6 per person frpm me)

I'll be posting the tickets to those who have paid mid next week..

Cheers
Andy

Re: Alpina Display Donington - extra display space

Andy,

Many thanks for organising the Alpina display and thanks for inviting me along. It was good to meet some of the guys although I am going to be in trouble at home for not working too hard at selling the Bi-Turbo.... After the clear drive up the M1, selling is going to be harder than I thought!

Cheers, Dave.

Dave - Great to see you and the car there apologies for not getting as much time to chat as I would have liked - we could have talked about the ring for ages I reckon.. yes your car looks stunning and yes i'm sure 300 mile round trip may well have made you reassess the reason's for selling (may you would have had more chance if it had a for sale sign on it...

can't blame you tho.. i'd have it myself if i could afford it or the running costs..

look forward to seeing you again if you do still have it...
