Exclamation urgent, need tyre specs/prices for e39 B10

Hi.

buying an Alpina E39 B10 V8 on the weekend. RAC man said it needed 4 new tyres.

So what are the tyres (Michelin Pilot Sport 2s)? and what size are they for the 18 inch alloys?

Need this info asap as I need to haggle this price off the final.

Cheers

Jay

Re: urgent, need tyre specs/prices for e39 B10

Ok , thanks to neils great website I've found the tyre size. Still anyone got a figure for 4 new tyres and what they are?

Heres my first stab, is it okay to mix pirelli Zero Nero and Zero Rosso Assimetrico for front and back? This is the price and suggestion for mytyres.co.uk

Front Tyres

P ZERO NERO 265/35 ZR18 93Y
Price £173.50
Price for 2 tyres £347.00

Rear
Pirelli

P ZERO ROSSO Asimmetrico 235/40 ZR18 91Y
Price £131.40
Price for 2 Tyres £262.80

Total £609.80

+ about £48 for fitting.

Re: urgent, need tyre specs/prices for e39 B10

Hi Jay,

I don't know the thread pattern on those tires, but by looking at their names, it's safe to assume that they are different. Different threads are normally not recommended.

As for the brand, Michelin Pilot Sport 2 proved itself to be excellent tires. I have the first generation (PS1) and I can't tell you enough how I'm happy with them.

Re: urgent, need tyre specs/prices for e39 B10

Kwik-fit have an online tyre chooser by car. They even have the Alpina B10.

So with fitting included they cost!

Make Model Tyre Size Price Quantity Total
Dunlop SP Sport 9000 MFS 245/40Z19 £213.00 £426.00
Dunlop SP Sport 9000 MFS Mercedes only 275/35Z19 £225.00 £450.00
Valve and Balance £7.99 4 £31.96
Tyre Disposal Charge £1.00 4 £4.00

Total £911.9

So I should basically try and nail this guy down on price between those two figures?

Justin

Have you tried Micheldever ? They always seemed to be best for prices when I had my B10.

ALSO - have you agreed the price - this sounds like a good bargaining angle ! spending a grand on a car you've just bought is a bit rich - try to knock them down....

Re: urgent, need tyre specs/prices for e39 B10

I use Michelins and get them from Micheldever. From memory I think they were around £200 each... maybe £170 for the fronts, can't quite remember.

I think Michelins are great on the B10 V8, if expensive. Good grip both wet and dry.

I offerd hom £500 less, he wouldnt' play ball.

So the I'll speak to the RAC man tommorow and if he says they need replaceing soon it will have to be no ball.

I want to buy this car, but I am not going to spend another 750 -900 pounds on tyres on a car I've just bought.

I just can't keep racking up the costs / extend the warranty, double my insurance etc.

I've pulled the stops out but perhaps it's a step too far. We'll see tommorow.
