In doing some research for the eventual restoration of my coupe, I ran across the fact that ZF manufactured an S6-40 transmission, which was used in Corvettes in the 1990's. Since the B7/1's came with a ZF S5-40, I'm curious to know if they're similar enough for a direct swap, or for a mechanicals transplant. Anyone know if a six speed has ever made its way into a B7? Re-gearing the rear end to a 3.45 and attaching it to a six speed gearbox would probably do wonders for off-the-line performance, without sacrificing the top end or fuel consumption (as if fuel consumption were a concern).
