What exactly is Alpina?

Hi... I'm a novice on Alpina cars... got a B3s cabrio coming soon.

Lots of people are asking me what exactly Alpina does as a company... I just say its a bit like Brabus for Mercedes... is it? They just make the car more luxurious don't they? What exactly do they do to the engine?

Thanks a lot, Mo

Re: What exactly is Alpina?

I think one of our newest members to the register summed it up perfectly (after less than a week with his new B3s cabrio):

"What can I say what a car. The engine, which is not even broken in yet is amazing, but the thing I love the most is the suspension. How can a car grip the road so firmly yet glide along when the road conditions are not exactly perfect. I used to own a 330 Ci, and although the car share the same shell, they are two totally different cars - amazing! "

To me and most people I have spoken to ALPINA is not a performance tuner like most. It is a creator of superbly rounded performance road cars. They mix comfort and performance like no other car I have driven. Great grip, poise and stability yet very compliant ride - amazing.

Cheers and hope you get your car real soon

Re: What exactly is Alpina?

It still amazes me how capable the cars are.

I had new front tyres fitted today, and boy was the journey back home fun!

Most of teh guys on here have new machinery, whereas mine is an 88 vintage. Yet it still has the core values of performance, in abundance. Which is a lot to be said for a 16 year old motorcar.

Re: What exactly is Alpina?

Totally agree my C2 2.7 is getting on but still has immense pulling power and puts most newer cars to shame on 0-60 but it comes into its own at 100mph plus with 216lb touque it pulls away from other cars.

Re: What exactly is Alpina?

ALPINA is simply the best compromise between power and confort. Agree with all the above. They take a good car and make it as it should have been in the first place.

They are also inovators, exhaust system, engine management (did you know that BMW buys the 4.6 and 4.8 V8 detuned lump from Alpina to put in the X5?). They were the first to introduce cats, and the new B7 has a clever supercharger system.

Re: What exactly is Alpina?

Every time Ican drive my Alpina I am very happy-no other car gave me that before. And even after driving 1000 kms a day you can't wait to get in this car again.
