Basicly, Alpina is a reg. car manufacturer like BMW.

Alpina tuned BMW as following: they give a V8 a nice reprogrammation, other stuff, charger, and a new SW with a new shift-system, so their ride is smoother with the Stept than the SMG in the V10.

from outside, it is "underestimated" and sleekly elegant.

M5 shows a bit more.

Now the magic is, that Alpina buys the o.e. engine from BMW AG factory, = BMW builds inside the Alpina engines, then they install it, and the car is ready.

M Technik GmbH= M tech is an own company division for Motorsport of BMW AG, so it is their own.

Alpina is in a individual company, hope to help.

Merry Christmas to all of you!!!

How does BMW benefit from cooperating with them? ...not saying that's a bad thing but sounds like Alpina is saying we can make your product better and more luxurious and BMW is saying here, let us help...?

Alpina has a long, successfull history in refining BMW's-since the 1960s.
The story began with twin-weber carburettors for the 1600 "neue Klasse" to match power-figures of the 1800 ti and ended up with complicated own creations lika the turbos and Biturbos or the B8.

Even the first Alpina-conversions were sold and serviced by the BMW-Dealership. That shows waht quality Alpina delivered right from the very first day.

In its beginnings Alpina has been very succesfull in Motorsport-with cars like the 2002 tii or the CSL-Batmobile and the 635 CSI. In these days-even before the "M"-GmbH existed the Alpinas have been "sportier". Nowadays the cars are more on the powerful, luxurious side of life-more like an AMG for instance. A new M5 may be faster than a B5-but its hard ride, its missing low-end-torque and its high rev-level make it "slow" in every-day life.

Alpina is often used by BMW to test new technologys in small series-and the connection between David and Goliath ist very tight today...

But lets say one thing:

When you start your Alpina you are a very happy man-every single time.
