Re: What exactly is Alpina?

Seems there's 2 distinct types of Alpina driver. First we have those who want a rapid car that covers ground in understated style in a fabulously relaxed manner, then there's those who want out and out performance.

Personally I'm in the first category, and am delighted that so few people know what Alpina is (beyond very expensive upgrade rims on a standard BMW) - if I wanted the other I'd buy a Noble or something like that (and expect to be carted off to the funny farm).

ALPINA is a religion, mixing funny, quality, and driving passion.

This is Alpinas strength. Not many cars can combine effortless performance and comfort with such `understaded style`.
The B10 is surely one of THE greatest 4 door saloons ever made IMHO.

Actually Alpina is a registered car maker not "only" a tuner of BMW.

They buy from BMW the engine and then they mod it drill etc then sends to BMW AG to assemble the car in the factory and then comes the big work, detailing, leather, shifter, paint and spoilers and stickers.

It is a Rollce of BMWS, and B5 beats M5 and does not have the SMG but a reprogrammed Steptronic.

That would make it a fairly incestuous relationship, no?
