Re: First pictures of E60 Alpina B5?

I know the B5, maybe B10 -whatever it will be called- isn't out yet, and there isn't much known about it yet, but I'd like to ask some questions, maybe someone can answer them.
-First off: will it be cheaper than the new E60 M5
-Will it be able to keep up with the E60 M5 in terms of performance
-Will it be difficult to get one to Belgium
-What will be the main differences between an Alpina converted E60 and an E60 M5.

From what I can see on that picture, and if that's sort of what the new B5 or B10 will look like, and the perfomance figures are as the rumours say, it might be a large probabillity that I will buy the Alpina.

What do you guys think about all this?

Nope - probably around the same price level.

Likely. Keep in mind Alpina performance figures are usually understated.

No, I believe there is a Belgian importer. Worst case scenario you source one from Germany.

Alpina: slightly more focus on comfort and more easy driveability due to low-down torque.
M5: slightly more performance oriented due to high-revving nature of the engine.

Excellent choice!

Re: First pictures of E60 Alpina B5?

Dirim, I'm quite sure this picture was taken in Holland, because the plate is a Dutch one.

Kees, thanks alot for the answers. What do you have to do to import one from Germany?

Jos - its quite simple...

1) you buy it in Germany
2) get temporary German export plates to drive it home (dealer can arrange this for you). Or alternatively arrange with your insurance company that you can use your Belgian license plates
3) go to the 'Technische Controle' in Belgium and get it approved for Belgian registration

No need to import from Germany : simply order in one of the three belgian Alpina representatives =http://www.bmwalpina.be]Alpina Belgium .
The B5 will be available for order as soon as presented by Alpina Buchloe.

My information on this B5 is the following:
4,4 l compressor, +/- 470 bhp (30 less than on the B7)
600 Nm
The perfs will be similar to the M5, with the traditional more subtle handling (sport/confort) than on the M5.
Auto gear box would be the only proposed option, but with 6 gears.
Touring version will be available as well.
Planned presentation: January 2005. Tests are currently ongoing.
