I have had the 1980 e12 b7 up to 250 Km/hr on a desert highway between New Mexico and California. It had more but I got a-scared. it was at night and I worried that a varmit might cross the road and take out my front end.
The e12 has the Pierburg fuel injection which has presented a learning curve. Especially when looking for replacing older parts. Alpina is no help here and prohibitively expensive.

The e28 is a much faster car off the line and just runs smoother and more responsive. It uses a Motronic fuel injection set up and is an all around more refined car. However it is not as rare or as curvey as the e12 Alpina.

Both cars have everything Alpina put in a car of the period. Seats, coolers, L/S final drive and C/R transmissions. I intend to have the e28 at the octoberfest here in Pasadena next month so for those of you who want to know more about the Alpina designs, look me up.

Re: alpina roll call

I will probably be at the Oktoberfest in Pasadena next month too. Chris and Dave from San Francisco have invited me. I hope to make it and meet a few US Alpina owners there.

Michael,

I have spoken with dave and chris at length and hope to see all three of you at the October fest this July. Chris I hear will be bringing a few of his classics. I hope the Inka CSL is ready by that time. Dave does not seem to have his Alpina e21 B6 running yet but his intentions are good. I look forward to meeting you when you come out from Florida. Please feel free to visit Huntington Beach while you are in Cali.

Talk to you soon.

the B6 is running just not at 100% had it out in san francisco today, running up and down the hills very well actually got the car completly sideways and powerd out nicely to hit the long straight !
the car will go back to the garage with jimmy ( my ferrari mechanic buddy) for more Fuel injection work. He is also going to go through the entire car to see if anything else is not 100%. hope to have it ready and running strong in a few months. Next is a complete replacement of suspension, tires and brakes. I am going to have the wheels re finished. After all this we shall see what i do next. it does not look good for oktoberfest for me, heading back to east coast.
