I previously made another thread about how I was receiving an Alpina engine. I talked to my German friend, and this was the explanation:
The engine block is an Alpina B7 Turbo engine (330 HP) with the 24 valve head from a B6 engine, so in essence, exactly what I said earlier: a 24-valve Alpina B7 Turbo engine.
This combination of parts was, in fact, assembled by Alpina to fill a custom order by the original owner of this vehicle. As I understand it, Alpina highly customizes cars just like BMW when they are purchased new, if one wishes to pay extra for such modifications. In this case, they fabricated a beautiful race engine for a car that was unfortunately rolled on the Autobahn... This engine has 10,000 km on it. This engine is about 400 horsepower, 400 lb/ft torque.
I plan to purchase this engine and install it in my E36.
As an alternative, I can purchase a euro-spec 93-94 M3 engine with very low kilometers on it -- Much simpler to install and much less to purchase. This engine would have 286 horses but only 240 lb-ft (much less than the 24V Alpina.)
Lastly, I will later provide authentic documents for the purchase and work order for modifications pertaining to this vehicle when it was bought new from Alpina.
Alpina does not customizes their models, even if bought new, and even the customer is paying 1 Million $ .
However I heard many stories of Alpinas (turbos) modified in the aftermarket. I know of a blue BiTurbo in France which got +400 bhp. The guy kinked the line shaft...

Thoughts? Flames?
Sorry Alpina does not work on motors outside of their guidline agreement with BMW.....that is why they always have an answer to the //M cars.......//M3 (ee30) B6s 3.5....//M5(e28) B7turbo..//M635 (e24)B7/B7s turbo....M5(e34) B10 Biturbo...
The only 24valve motors are the S38 and M88 and S14 motors that BMW produced.....
Lastley I don't think anyone here would stop you from buying anything....but would caution you as to the validity of the product...do you have photos of this motor? why not get photos
from the seller (that should be no issue) then take the block number and give it to me or someone else that has a "DIRECT" line into Alpina to verify the validity of the claims of the seller......
Tell the seller you need the motor number that Alpina has on any/every motor they work on
any motor that Alpina works on/produce they will have a record of it especially for customer support for service or parts.....I think that would be the easiest thing to do.....
I would love to see you get this beast and install it but make sure that it is genuine......no flames from me just a word of caution
