Considering selling my B8 4.6 Touring

As some of you know, I am preparing to move to the US soon here. I am considering selling my BMW Alpina B8 4.6 Touring (number 008 of 27 ever made) in the US or here in Europe, and would be interested to see if there is a response from potential US buyers here. I will put this in the for sale section after a few days here, but just wanted people to see it here.

The reason for selling is that I dont need more than 2 hobby cars; my B8 Convertible and then a true sports car (Porsche) that will be bought soon.

The car is in perfect condition with ALL options from BMW and Alpina excluding sun roof. I will post some more pics soon.

Cheers,

Michael

Moving to the US?

I will be somewhat interested, given that I have almost bought a B3 2.8 touring about 1.5 years ago here in the US.

What worries me is the homologation process which will be a headache.

When are you moving over?

I am moving over sometime during the next two months and have two options: Miami,FL or San Diego, CA. There are pros and cons both places but it looks like it will be Miami right now. It isn't quite settled yet though.
If I can get the Cabrio in under the 'show and display' category I will do that. Another option is to just ship it back and forth on german license plates. I can drive it in the US up to a year on the german plates.
Normal homolegation is a headache yes, but it is possible and since there to my knowledge are zero B8's in the US it would be a unique car that would be easy to sell with a profit I am sure.

Well either way I am close to san diego since san francisco is only a few hours away Miami is also close to another home i have on the west side of Florida, Naples.
Yes you would make a nice profit here in the US for your B8 touring. How long would you live in us for? you sell the cabrio

well San Diego is the better place to be, have you been to florida?

Dave,

We should definitely get together then

It will probably be a permanent move, but nothing in this world really is permanent anyway

The Cabrio stays with me!

I know CA pretty well but it looks like FL is the better choice business wise. I prefer the CA climate to FL, no doubt about that. I don't really know San Diego at all though.

With the stationwagon you'll fit in better in the Southeast than in California though...

Michael, how can you give up a B8 and why downgrade to a Porsche 911

Hope you find a good solution for your two B8s. Even after having my B8 since exactly 8 years (I registered in on July 7, 1995), I havent regreted it one day yet.

Cheers, Alex.

Alex,

Would you mind posting some pictures of your B8? Great that you're still the first owner!

Hi Kees,

I'll get you some pictures as soon as I get it nice and clean. But let me warn you, it's one of those rather simple looking ones - plain black, standard mirrors (not M3 type) no stripes, no logos, just the rear & front spoilers and the Alpina rims Just the way I like it.

Cheers, Alex
