You, sir, are wasting time, not reading the thread, making unsubstantiated claims and believing a story that has been twice denied. Take this car to a proper auction house and see how quickly they say move along. No docs (excuse me, fake docs), denial from factory, fake parts. I have seen numerous Alpina tribute cars on Ebay.de and some are excellent reproductions. But, the sellers always note that their efforts are tributes, or "Alpina optik" and they sell them fairly. If you're so convinced in the great story, and that the car is worth its weight in gold, helps the seller out and purchase the car at its asking price.
I get your point and loads here but read my observation as stated before, no un-substantiated claims have been made by me neither did i say i absolutely believed the claims or not by Paul HP, all that was stated was "benefit of doubt" to be given until facts supporting or disproving the authenticity of the car is provided. A Customer car/Service is one thing a Project is another thing altogether. But its all good like that....Enjoy

Josco, I think if you are assembling a collection in the benefit of doubt camp, you're going to be sorely disappointed in your collection when it comes time to sell. Those serious about cars demand proof when paying top dollar, not a fairytale, no matter how good it sounds. It's like saying the car had a $50k restoration, but there are no receipts or photos available. Why? Likely because $50k was not spent. Before this car came to market, the proof should have been obtained, and with that, the car may have sold instantly.

I had spoken to somebody from Alpina today - and mentioned this Ad for the "Prototype" ...

Alpina has never intended to put a Turbo-Engine in the E21 - which is obviuosly also quite impossible because of the K-Jetronic used in the E21. He already had taken a look at the photos which someone provided to Alpina. This car is a aftermarket-tuning-car, Alpina has never had this car in their hands.
Also - if Alpina ever produced a prototype, they produce just one prototype - and this will never be sold. He also took a look at the VIN-Plate and shook his head ...

Again - this car is totally fake, every dime spend to this Pseudo-Alpina-Car is worth nothing.

Hate to keep this going, but the seller has kept the dialogue open on other sites, stating that he's still waiting to here back from the engineer in his story, now named as Kent Goldy.

It occurred to me - if Alpina had ever worked on a turbo E21/M10, the engineer involved at that time would certainly have been Dr. Indra, no?

Whoever's been pestering Mr. Rimpler, ask him if Kent Goldy ever had anything to do with Alpina in Buchloe. Any bets on the response being, "Who?"

update:
Now on this other board, a resume for Kent Goldy has been produced which lists:

Senior Turbocharger Systems Engineer at ALPINA Burkard Bovensiepen GmbH + Co. AG
1980 - 1982 (2 years)

This must get run past Alpina, please.
