B10 BiTurbo Brake and Suspension Reccomendations

Hello BiTurbo People.

I am looking at renewing the Brakes and Suspension on my BiTurbo in the near future.

I have read the threads regarding using 740d disks Merc S600 etc...However, I would rather go for a real upgrade.

I read a thread where M5 Killer goes with the KD setup.

What the latest thinking here - All help much appreciated.

Regarding the shocks - No longer available from Alpina and I know the 3.6 M5 fit. Who has used the KW Coilovers? - Better/upgrade?

Also, im going to do the complete Powerflex bush upgrade.

Cheers
AJ

Hi AJ,

Iif I was going down your route I'd go for MOV'IT or AP brakes and probably KW V2 or GAZ as they're in the UK and will make a bespoke set as required.

That said, I've kept mine standrd so am not really the best person to offer advice.

Cheers,

Dave.

Hi DaveW

Thanks for the reply.

Ultimately, I would like to keep the car standard, however, the discontinuation of some of the parts and the price of the M5 parts may be comparable to aftermarket...

Also, as technology has moved on after circa 20 years, the parts available now - Braking systems, suspension etc have advanced, that's why im tending to lean towards aftermarket 'upgrades'.

As for the Engine, I leave that well alone as I am more than happy with what it does.

I am based in Basel, Switzerland but still have links to the UK where I would probably get most of the work done as I have more established contacts their.

Has anyone done the Poly Bush upgrade on their Biturbo?
Cheers
AJ

Brakes - I would stay with the original, maybe use EDC-Brakes.
Suspension - AFAIK they can be refurbished (and also Alpina still sells them).

If you want to keep the car standard then you have no choice but I've owned my Bi-Turbo for 11 years now and if there is one thing I would change it would be the brakes. Yes they work but they also retain too much heat and are very, very heavy. I looked at 840ci Brembo calipers and even bought a brand new pair but couldn't get the pedal to feel right so sold them on. I use Mercedes pads and don't abuse the car much these days so I'm resigned to keeping them but if Jes wants to upgrade you need to go for a step change and get BIG disks, Alloy bells and Alloy Calipers with all the various pistons matched so the balance isn't upset. That's what I would do. On the suspension front, sadly Alpina don't sell the rears any more but you can still get 540 M-Sport replacements.

Cheers,

Dave.
