Finding a 5.7 has become very difficult and/or very expensive due to supply drying out - people seem to hang onto the cars now.

This 5.0 is probably in better basic condition than 90% of the other 5.0's now. Looking forward to following the restoration.

You have also keep in mind that the 5.7 can be very difficult to maintain because of problems with some rarer 8-series features like AHK, EDC and Shiftronic - and the engine uses also much more Alpina-specific parts than the 5.0-engine. They are about 2-times rarer and have much more horsepower ... but you pay a much higher price for that.
For me the decision was clear ... either you have a diva or a car to drive

Understand your points, but I still want to have a 5.7 someday...
