My E3 was a barn find. I have an E21 B6 that I took to a mechanic and he was telling me he used to own an 3.0 Alpina? I asked if it was the coupe and he said no the four door. I hadnt heard of Alpina tuning any four doors but after inquiring with a few people they did in fact tune some four doors. The mechanic told me he traded the car long ago for some parts cars.
I kind of forgot about the car for a couple years, but after bringing the e21 back to mechanic he had a picture of the car which kind of renewed my interest. For some reason he wouldnt tell me who he sold the car to or where it was. That made me a little more interested in trying to find the car. I remembered an old BMW junkyard that had closed many years ago but was still listed in information. So I called the number and they answered. Apparently the owner sold off all his inventory and someone bought it and moved it a few blocks over. I asked the lady who answered the phone if they had a silver Alpina. She said yeah its sitting right in front of me. I then spoke to the owner who agreed to allow me to come over and check out the car. To my surprise, there it was sitting covered completely in dust inside a warehouse surrounded by parts and parts cars. To make a long story short, after a lot of persuading and confirmation of the cars authenticity I bought the car and have been slowly restoring it. It was originally fjord blue but was repainted silver. Its now back to fjord blue and almost finished. Here's a picture the first day I saw the car.
