When did Alpina start using AlpinaBlau / DunkelSaffireBlauMet? I've seen in on the B7 but did they have it earlier? Was this colour a normal BMW colour that they "standardized" on, or has it a colour that they designed themselves? Is there a block on this colour at BMW Individual or can any smuck order a new BMW in this colour?

Just curious.

The colors Alpinablau and Alpinagruen are developed by Alpina and there is a block on these colors at Individual

And if you need to repaint the car in Alpina green for example ( clearly not your case Michael

) where do you get the paint ??? Do you have to take it to ALPINA in Bucloe ? And also fiting a new deco set must be really dificult...right ?

I love how the B7 coupe looks in Alpina green and gold deco set. Simply a piece of art.

The paint is bought at Alpina but this is one of these parts where they need to have the VIN # in order to process the order. I.e. no sale to people who don't own an Alpina

It is not very expensive - less than $100 per liter.

do you mean to imply that BMW Individual can paint a car in Alpina blue?

I think most paintshops can mix these colours, at least the ones who use Standox. I know that the description of how to mix the Alpina-colours are available under "special BMW-colours" along with other individual colours.

Alfred,

No I was saying the opposite

You cannot order the Alpina Blue or Green at BMW Individual.

But I am sure Janne is correct in saying that the knowledge on how to mix the colors is available at Individual since the cars are painted there for Alpina

Or any bodyshop for that matter.... But at least you can't order a new BMW in Alpina Colours from Individual..
