The time that matters most is the 0 - 120Mph (or 0 - 200 Kph) for acceleration, as it's the one that mostly eliminates the tricks manufacturers use to make the cars feel fast (usually the make it fast until 60/100). But this car right here can do 300 Kph, so one of those tests will surely be conducted. That would be interesting, as the B6 S did 300 Kph in 41.5s, which was almost faster than the 997.1 Porsche 911 Turbo.

I was due to test the Sytner car today but it had just gone for valeting in preparation for a photo shoot tomorrow so it will have to be next week. I hope the new B5 is a better handling machine than the old one which I find to be pretty un-involving especially compared to the B10V8. Alpina really screwed up with the E60 B5 as they seemed to have sacrificed delicacy on the altar of maximum speed. Anyone know if they are going to offer a RHD Touring?

From Autocar "Unlike the M5, which is likely to use a dual-clutch transmission, the B5 gets an eight-speed automatic. But the unit has been developed by Alpina and ZF, and it uses a trick way of speeding up shifts when you're in one of the car's sportier modes.

Instead of merely ******ing the engine timing, the B5 uses its direct injection tech to merely cut off a cylinder or two. Alpina says the system cuts gearshift times in two, to around 180ms."

I dont really understand the tech of cutting off a cylinder(s) during shift but apparently fast for a auto box? And the topspeed has to be electronic, probably due to tires.
